Abstract: Introduction and aim: Savlon is a solution containing cetrimide and chlorhexidine, which is used as a household and hospital disinfectant for various purposes. Methods: This paper reports the clinical data of a young woman who was admitted to Taleghani Teaching Hospital in Urmia, West Azerbaijan, Iran, after ingesting Savlon solution. Case Presentation: The patient was a 23-year-old woman who had consumed half a cup of diluted Savlon solution 30 minutes prior to her visit to the emergency department. She experienced several episodes of vomiting, and her chief complaint was a sore throat. The patient s vital signs were stable. Nasogastric lavage was performed, and intravenous fluid therapy was initiated using a mixed solution of 3.33% dextrose and 0.3% sodium chloride. Additionally, she received 40 mg of intravenous pantoprazole and was admitted to the poisoning ward where supportive therapies were administered. The following day, the patient did not experience any issues and was discharged from the hospital with her consent. She remained stable and did not develop any complications. Conclusion: Ingestion of a diluted solution of Savlon is unlikely to cause significant clinical effects or systemic complications due to the poor gastrointestinal absorption of cetrimide and chlorhexidine. Therefore, it can be considered a relatively safe disinfectant for hospital use.
