A Review of Mechanical Specific Energy Applications in Drilling Oil and Gas Wells

تاريخچه مطالعات مفهوم انرژي مخصوص مكانيكي به بيش از نيم‌قرن مي‌رسد. انرژي مخصوص مكانيكي به‌عنوان انرژي موردنياز براي تخريب، حذف و حفاري يك واحد حجمي سنگ نخستين بار توسط تئال در سال 1965 ارائه شد. مفهوم انرژي مخصوص مكانيكي باگذشت زمان در فرم‌هاي مختلفي ارائه شده است كه هركدام از اين فرم‌ها، تأثير پارامترهاي مختلف مربوط به دكل، حفاري و سازند را تركيب مي‌كنند. مفهوم انرژي مخصوص مكانيكي در پژوهش‌هاي مختلف، در مواردي ازجمله پيش‌بيني ويژگي‌ها و پارامترهاي سنگ، بهينه‌سازي تكميل چاه، انتخاب مته مناسب و تخمين فشار منفذي كاربرد يافته است. يكي از مزيت‌هاي اصلي استفاده از اين مفهوم در كاربردهاي مختلف، هزينه كمتر و موجود بودن داده‌ها در كل عمق چاه مي‌باشد. داده‌هاي ديگر نظير داده‌هاي چاه پيمايي و چاه آزمايي در بازه محدودي از چاه وجود دارند. در اين پژوهش، فرم‌هاي مهم انرژي مخصوص مكانيكي ارائه و مهم‌ترين كاربردهاي اين مفهوم در عمليات حفاري چاه‌هاي نفت و گاز بررسي مي‌گردند.

The history of studies on the concept of mechanical specific energy reaches more than half a century. Mechanical Specific energy was firstly presented by Teale in 1965 as the energy required to destroy, remove and drill a volume unit of rock. The concept of mechanical specific energy has been presented in different forms, each of these forms combine the effect of different factors related to rig, drilling parameters and formation. The concept of mechanical specific energy has been used in various studies, in applications such as predicting rock characteristics and parameters, well completion optimization, choosing the right drill bit, and pore pressure estimation. One of the main advantages of using this concept in different applications is the lower cost and availability of data in the entire well depth. Other data such as well logs and well testing exist in a limited range of the well. In this research, the important forms of mechanical special energy are presented and the most important applications of this concept in the drilling operations of oil and gas wells are investigated.
