چكيده فارسي :
معمولاً در زبان فارسي، ريشه لغت «ادبيات» را در «ادب» جست‌وجو مي‌كنند، چرا كه اين واژه را واژه‌اي عربي مي‌دانند، و به همين دليل كندوكاو در باب «ادبيات» در همين‌جا خاتمه يافته است. ادب در معناي قاموسي‌اش، به معني هنر، فرهنگ و از همه مهم‌تر طور و طريقه‌ي پسنديده، اخلاق حسنه و فضيلت است. سوالي كه در اين مقاله مطرح مي‌شود اين است كه مي‌توان بناي «ادبيات» را بر اين معنا و لفظ «ادب» پايه گذاشت؟ فرضيه مطروحه اين است كه شايد بناي اين واژه بر لفظ پارسي «دب» و معناي «زبان» و «حروف» باشد، چنان چه در نسخه فرنگي اين واژه يعني literature كه پايه بر حروف (letter) دارد. در اين مقاله با مراجعه به مراجع و منابع فارسي و انگليسي، اسنادي دال بر اين فرضيه يافت شده است. در وهله نخست از ريشه غيرعربي كلمه ادب گزارش شده است و اين كه ريشه «ادبيات» در فارسي «ادب» نيست و براي يك بررسي علمي بايد «دب» و «ديپي» را مورد كنكاش و كاوش قرار داد؛ كلماتي كه ما را به «زبان» و «حروف» رهنمون مي‌شوند. ضمن اين‌كه با توجه به ريشه «دب» و قواعد مطروحه زبان‌شناسيك و ابدال در ميان دو لغت «ادب» و «زبان»، از احتمال اشتراك ريشه‌شناختي اين دو واژه نوشته شده است.

Usually, in the Persian language, people search for the root of the word Adabiyat in Adab , because they consider this word to be an Arabic word And for this reason, the search for literature has ended here. Adab, in its dictionary meaning, means art, culture, and most importantly, a pleasant manner and good manners and virtue. The question raised in this article is, can the foundation of literature be based on this meaning and word? The proposed hypothesis is that maybe this word is based on dab as a persian word that refers language and letters , as in the English version of this word it means literature. In this article, by referring to Persian and English references and sources, documents supporting this hypothesis have been found. First of all, the non-Arabic origin of the word Adab has been reported, and that the root of literature in Persian is not adab , and for a scientific investigation, Dab and Dipi should be explored. The words that lead us to language and letters . In addition, according to the root of dab and the rules of linguistics and ebdal proposed between the two words literature and language , it has been written about the possible etymological commonality of these two words.
