اين پژوهش به منظور بررسي و مقايسه زمينه زهد در انديشه ناصرخسرو و سنايي غزنوي انجام گرفت. روش اين تحقيق كتابخانه اي و از نوع توصيفي- تحليلي است. زهد به عنوان يكي از عوامل اصلي شكل دهندۀتصوف، از مباحث مهم و مورد توجه صوفيه است كه در متون عرفاني از آن سخن به ميان آمده است. زهد به عنوان يك مقوله و مفهوم در شعر فارسي بازتاب گسترده اي داشته و شاعران ادب فارسي با ديدگاه هاي گوناگون به آن پرداخته اند؛ بطوري يك شاعر نگاه مختلف و متفاوتي به زهد داشته است. چنين نگاهي قطعاً از طريق انديشه هاي زاهدانه ناصرخسرو و سنايي قابل درك است. مسلماً انديشه هاي ديني، به احتمال زياد در ترويج چنين ملاحظاتي تأثيرگذار بوده است. نويسندگان براي نيل به اين هدف، زمينه هاي زهد را در انديشه هاي ناصرخسرو و سنايي بررسي و تحليل كرده اند و تلاش نموده اندجايگاه ارزشي زهد را در هر يك ازانديشه هاي آنان شرح داده و مقايسه نمايند. نتايج نشان داد كه نگاه ناصرخسرو و سنايي به زهد در عين داشتن برخي شباهت ها داراي تفاوتهايي نيز هست. ناصرخسرو مخالف سرسخت زندگي دنيوي است؛ اما سنايي رويكردي متعادل تر را در پيش مي گيرد.
