Electroless NI-P coating have been used in various industries for the last decades, due to their unique combination of properties such as; good wear and corrosion resistance, low porosity and ability to plate on nonconductors. In the present study, various amounts of nano-Zno particles with average diameter of 50nm were incorporated into NI-P plates. Composite coating were prepared using hypophosphite reduced electroless Nickel bath. Effect of nano-Zno particle content on the hardness and wear resistance of electroless NI-P coating was investigated and compared with that of the unreinforced NI-P plates. The results indicated that incorporation of nano-Zno particles resulted in increasing of hardness and wear resistant of the plates. The decrease in the metal-metal content surface in the presence of nano-Zno particles was found to be responsible for the improved wear resistance of the composite coatings.
