استفاده از سيستم هاي اطلاعات مكاني) ( GIS به عنوان يكي از پيشرفته ترين علوم و فنآوريهاي مديريت بهينه اطلاعات مكان مرجع، به منظور مدلسازي و مديريت تاسيسات آبرساني، شبكه هاي توزيع آب شهري و شبكه هاي جمع آوري فاضلاب و نحوه مصرف مشتركين با رويكرد كاهش هدر رفت واقعي و ظاهري آب كاملا توجيه پذير و كاربردي است. به همين دليل تهيه و بهره برداري از سيستم جامع GIS با ساختار كاملا منطبق بر وب بعنوان يك راهكار مطرح است. از طرفي ديگر به دليل درآمدزايي و داشتن ارتباط مستقيم با مشتركين و ارباب رجوع در بخشهاي امور مشتركين، بالا بردن سرعت، كيفيت و دقت خدمات به مشتركين با كمترين هزينه و با رويكرد كاهش هدر رفت واقعي و ظاهري آب، همواره يكي از اهداف شركت هاي آب و فاضلاب در سراسر كشور است. در اين مقاله قابليتها، امكانات و كاربردهاي سيستم GIS در امور مشتركين شركت آب و فاضلاب شهرستان شاهرود شامل شناسايي مشتركين كم مصرف، پرمصرف، انشعابات غيرمجاز، مشتركين با كنتور خراب، مشتركين با انشعاب ساخت و ساز، انشعابات فضاي سبز، تفكيك نوع كنتور مشتركين و ... به همراه نتايج به دست آمده ارائه شده است.
