چكيده فارسي :
نبرد رستم و اشكبوس، يكي از داستان‌هاي تأثيرگذار و حماسي شاهنامه است كه در آن، جنگ‌افزارهاي متنوعي به كار گرفته شده است. با پيشرفت تكنولوژي و توسعه‌ي جوامع، صحنه‌ي نبرد، پوشش جنگجويان و ابزارهاي مورد استفاده‌ي آنان نيز، تغييرات فراواني كرد؛ به‌طوري‌كه انسان امروزي، حتي در تشخيص و شناخت برخي از ابزار، با مشكل مواجه مي‌شود؛ بنابراين، شناخت جنگ‌افزارها از نظر نوع، كاركرد و موارد استفاده، مي‌تواند كمك بسياري به فهم صحنه‌ي نبرد و موقعيت مبارز و در نهايت، درك درست از معناي اشعار، به ويژه در شاهنامه كند. در داستان نبرد رستم و اشكبوس، جنگ‌افزارها، از نظر نوع و كاربرد، به چهاردسته‌ي گوناگون تقسيم مي‌شوند؛ دسته‌اي همانند تير و تيغ و كمان، ويژه‌ي نبرد و آسيب رساندن به دشمن هستند، دسته‌اي چون ببربيان، جوشن و خفتان و ...، تن پوش رزمند و پهلوان را از گزند دشمن، حفظ مي‌كنند و دسته سوم، ابزارهاي موسيقايي چون بوق و كوس و امثالهم هستند كه نقش تهييجي يا آگاهي‌دهنده دارند و در آخرين دسته، دسته‌اي چون عنان و برگستوان و ...، ويژه‌ي اسب جنگجويانند، جاي مي‌گيرند. با بررسي جنگ‌افزارهاي مورد استفاده در اين نبرد، تير و كمان، بيشترين بسامد را دارند؛ زيرا رستم پياده به جنگ پهلوان توراني آمده است و وي را فقط با دو تيري كه از كمان رها مي‌كند، از بين مي‌برد.
