Abstract Tissue engineering is a promising approach to restore, improve, or replace different biological tissues. Designing a suitable scaffold which can mimic the cellular natural microenvironment is of great importance for the success of tissue regeneration. Nanofibrous structure with proper pore size and porosity together with proper chemical composition and mechanical strength are among the effective parameters to be consired. There are many techniques for scaffold fabrication and each of them has its own advantages and drawbacks. Combination of different techniques would be an efficient solution to make benefit from the advantages of the combined methods and resolve their drawbacks. In the present study, the feasibility of combining gas foaming and electrospinning techniques is investigated. Results demonstrate that this idea would be promising in designing innovative scaffolds.
