The increasing growth of breast cancer worldwide and the lack of accurate knowledge of in-vivo conditions have made it difficult to achieve reliable results. So, creating and developing models that can create conditions similar to in-vivo and accurately imitate complex tissue microenvironments is essential. We used electrospinning to mimic non-invasive ductal carcinoma by making a tri-layer scaffold. Alginate-dopamine (Alg-DA), polyvinyl alcohol(PVA), and polydopamine nanoparticles(PDA NPs) were used to make the first and third layers. PDA NPs caused the scaffold to show a desirable photothermal effect in vitro upon 1064 nm laser radiation and kill cancer cells by increasing the temperature. Polycaprolactone (PCL) and polylactic acid(PLA) were used in the second layer to improve the mechanical properties and bring it closer to the mammary ducts. Scaffold adhesion and biocompatibility were assessed by seeding MDA-MB-231 cancer cells inside them, and the results indicate a favorable environment for cell growth. Due to features such as dimensions, a suitable modulus, and an excellent photothermal effect can be a potential option for studying and treating breast cancer.
