Owing to the growing realization and high demands in healthcare facilities, developing novel constructs with multifunctional characteristics using polymers and copolymers is considered a potential solution to the modern world’s current requirements. Bioinspired polymeric materials have not only been a motivating factor for various biotechnological and biomedical applications but also offer their significant potential to improve living standards and better health facilities. The purpose of the current research is to prepare a polymer carrier and to identify and evaluate the intended carrier for use in drug delivery systems. Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR) was used to confirm the functionalization. After modification by citric acid, changes in storage and loss moduli and hydrophilicity were investigated by RMS analysis and water contact angle assay, respectively. It could be concluded that modification of PEG by citric acid can lead to elastic behavior and high storage modulus and better hydrophilicity.
