Geminal surfactant with self-assembly ability to create micelles are great of interests, particular if they carry antimicrobial agents. Here in the present work, a series of geminal surfactants based on curcumin (as a core) and imidazolium based ionic liquids (side blocks) with different alkyl chains from C2 to C6 as spacer were synthesized (Cur-BImIL-Cn, n = 2, 3, 4, 6). The results showed that the critical micelle concentration (CMC) was decreased with alkyl chain due to induced flexibility by longer alkyl chains facilitating self-assembly. Also, the lowest minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) was obtained for Cur-BImIL-C6 showing its higher antibacterial activity against S. aureus and E. coli bacteria. Finally, self-healing hydrogels based on PVA, Cur-BImIL-C6, and curcumin are preparing to deliver anti-inflammation drug (curcumin) to the wound.
