The Transient Shear Flow of Viscoelastic Fluids in Concentric Annuli

Start-up annular flow of the FENE-P dumbbells for which no analytical solutions are available were investigated. The rheological behavior of the model was compared and contrasted with Hooken dumbbells and flow within a pipe. Both unsteady and steady states were considered. According to the results the model exhibits a peculiar temporary rheological behavior in spite of geometrical similarities to a circular tube. Also, the velocity profile and distribution of shear as well as radial pressure gradient were obtained from the steady-state results.
