In this study, in order to increase flux and hydrophilicity of polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) membranes, the PVDF mixed matrix ultrafiltration membranes first were fabricated through phase inversion method with different percentage composition of solution and bath coagulation as well as Polyethylene glycol (PEG) as pore formers. Based on seperation performance, tthe Optimum percentage composition of the PVDF mixed matrix membrane involved 14 wt% of PVDF, 2 wt%of PVP (polyvinyl pyrrolidone K25), and 0.1 wt% of TiO2 (Titanium dioxide). The permeability of the optimal membrane for net water flux was 140 kg/hr.m2 at 0.1 MPa with the flux recovery 82%.Then, the efffect of adding various molecular weight of PEG into the optimal solution of the PVDF membrane was investigated and the seperation performance of membranes were measured. Results showed a significant increase in the water flux higher than 200 kg/h.m2 and a relative decrease in flux recovery in compared to the PVDF membranes without PEG.
