Highly-branched poly (propylene imine) (PPI) polymer was synthesized by the divergent method with ethylenediamine (EDA) core, up to the fourth generation according to two steps: 1: Michael addition of acrylonitrile (ACN) to a primary amine group; 2: Reduction of nitrile groups with lithium aluminum hydride (LAH) catalyst, purification of full-generations and then isolation of unreacted amines. In this work, for the first time, the highly branched PPI polymer was functionalized and purified according to an amidation reaction with phenylboronic acid. FTIR test was used to confirm the functionalization process and the related results confirmed the presence of functional groups related to amide. DLS test was carried out to check the average particle size, dispersion index and response to glucose from the pure sample at concentrations of 1 mgml and 3 mgml glucose.
