Synthesis and characterization of Modified polyisobutylene-based oil-soluble dispersants from Polyisobutylene Succinimides

Alkenyl succinimides with different alkyl chain lengths were synthesized employing   polyisobutylene In this research, detergent/dispersant type additives were also synthesized based on polyisobutylene succinic anhydride (PIBSA) and its aminated compounds (PIBSI) with tetraethylenepentamine (TEPA). The prepared PIBSA and PIBSI characterized by FTIR, 1H-NMR, and GPC spectroscopies were greatly complicated because of the interactions between the carbonyls of the succinimide groups and unreacted secondary amines of the Mb-PIBSI dispersants. Therefore, an alternative procedure was developed based on fluorescence quenching of the succinimides by secondary amines and urethane groups.
