Poly(ionic liquids) (PILs) were used as powerful demulsifiers to separate water from crude oil emulsions. Triazole-based ionic liquids were prepared and then polymerized by atom transfer radical polymerization using macroinitiator. The structure of the synthesized materials w:as char:acterized by 1H NMR and FT-IR analyses. Bottle testing was done after the demulsification process after 24 hours
