Poly(butylene succinate) (PBS) is an aliphatic bio-degradable polyester with polyolefin-like properties. Hence it is a good candidate for many environmentally friendly applications. Despite its industrial potential, there is no systematic study on its reaction condition control. Temperature control of PBS polymerization is investigated based on its functional group model. The model considered only esterification reactions and complete water extraction. Finally, the Space State feedback controller was selected to be used. It was found that the system is controllable in a suitable range of power input.
