In this study, the effect of LbL coatings based on layered double hydroxide (LDH), graphene oxide (GO), and sodium p-sulfonatocalix[4]arene modified graphene oxide (GOSC4A) on the flame retardancy of flexible polyurethane foam was investigated. For this purpose, samples including neat PU foam and modified PU foams with 9 bilayers of LDH-GO (PUF/LDH-GO 9BL) and LDH-GOSC4A coatings (PUF/LDH-GOSC4A 9BL) were prepared. In addition, to provide negative charges on the foam surface and enhance the quality of the deposition process, waterborne polyurethane (WPU) was used as the primary layer. The effect of LDH-GO and LDH-GOSC4A coatings on structural and flame retardancy properties of the PU foam were evaluated by FE-SEM, EDX, and horizontal burning test.
