Abstract The effect of different macromolecules on witheirious functionality and top particles interactions with cement particles was investigated. The AA-co-APEG (n=20) comb-like copolymers were synthesized via free radical polymerization. The molecular structures of the copolymers were also characterized by FTIR and TGA methods. The mechanism of adsorption of sodium lignosulfonate(LS-Na) and comb-like copolymer and their effects on the cement slurry was also studied. The spread values of the cement paste increased with the PCE superplasticizer.
