Ionomer containing methacrylate double bond pendant groups are prepared by using monomers such as glycidyl methacrylate isocyanate, etc.The grafting of glycidyl methacrylate on alkenoic acids was studied using ethanol as solvent and benzyl triethyl ammonium chloride (BTA) as catalyst. The grafting results were confirmed using NMR. The reaction yield was determined by measuring acid number.
