In this research work, the impact modifications of PVC/SAN blends containing g-ABS or MBS core-shell nanoparticles were scrutinized and correlated with the solid state rheological properties of system. Izod impact and rheological tests were conducted to evaluate the brittle-ductile transition (BDT), about 10 wt. %, of alloys as well as the efficacies of nanoparticles. A pervasive 3-D network of MBS in PVC and g-ABS in PVC and/or SAN altered the failure mechanism from crazing to shear yielding induced by cavitation, respectively. It amplified the matrix toughness as much as 9 times. The estimation of blend system toughness based on its rheological flow is under development.
