Low molecular weight acrylic polymers are obtained via high-temperature semi-batch free radical polymerization. The polymerization kinetics at high temperatures is complicated due to significant amount of intramolecular chain transfer to the polymer and β-scission reactions. In this work, Monte Carlo method was applied to simulate the solution polymerization of Butyl Acrylate (BA) at elevated temperature. Subsequently, experimental data were used to verify the simulation. The simulation results could be utilized to obtain targeted acrylic structures by controlling the reaction conditions.
