Photochromism involves the reversible transformation of a chemical species between two isomeric forms induced by the absorption of light which results in a change in absorption spectra. Spiropyrans are one of the most popular photochromic compounds whose optical and structural properties make them ideal molecules for making materials resistant to multifunctional stimuli. In this study, the photochromic composition of 2-3 , 3 -dimethyl-6-nitrospiro (chroman-2,2 -indoline)-1 -l-ethanol (SP), which had a hydroxyl functional group, was synthesized in two steps and w:as char:acterized by different annalyzes. Then prepared spiropyrane reacted with the ionic liquid synthesized based on imidazolium through hydroxyl group, the synthesis and performance were confirmed by Uv-Vis. The maximum adsorption of ionic liquid attached to spiropyrane was obtained by irradiating UV light in methanol, ethanol, acetonitrile and dichloromethane solvents for 0 to 300 seconds, 533 nm, 534 nm, 532 and 410 nm, respectively.
