N,N-dihydroxyethyl azobenzene can be used as a very desirable dyeد even in acidic environments. Ultraviolet-visible absorbance peak of N,N-dihydroxyethyl azobenzene showed that λmax of absorbance peak shifts from 435 to 535 nm alongside with decrease of pH from 6 to 1, which is accompanied by a distinct color change from yellow to salmon pink. This phenomenon is due to the conversion of the structure to hydrazone one. On the other hand, methyl methacrylate latex nanparticles were synthesized by emulsifier-free emulsiom polymerization. By doping the dye in MMA latex nanoparticles, the acidichromism behavior was seen more intensely.
