Achieving a defectless morphology, hydrophilic nature, and satisfactory physical/mechanical properties are among the crucial factors that need to be considered in the fabrication of nanofibrous mats. Poly(L-lactic acid) (PLLA)/gelatin (GL) hybrid nanofibers were prepared in this work by co-electrospinning technique. Based on the obtained results, it was observed that the sample with 10 wt./v % PLLA and 25 wt./v % GL had the most uniform fibers and desirable mechanical properties. This electrospun mat also showed the highest hydrophilicity among the other samples, with a water contact angle (WCA) of 63±0.8°. These achievements demonstrated that the noted specimen has an excellent capability for further studies regarding tissue engineering applications.
