In this study, 3D nanofibrous sponges composed of gelatin (GE), poly (vinyl alcohol) (PVA) and carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC) were fabricated using combination of electrospinning and gas-foaming technique. The composites were morphologically characterized and the resulted sponges showed porous scaffold structure with nanofiberous struts. Moreover, larger pore size led to higher water absorption. The evaluation of hemolytic activity proved the hemocomptibility of composite sponge indicating an excellent candidate for hemostatic applications.
