Lithium-ion batteries (LIBs) have been used widely in electric devices such as gadgets and electric vehicles. Poly(vinylidene difluoride-co-hexafluoropropylene) (PVDF-HFP) porous membranes with honeycomb-like morphology architectures have been developed to be utilized as gel polymer electrolytes (GPEs) in LIBs. The porosity of the polymer electrolyte membrane was about 40%, so as a result, the amount of electrolyte uptake was as high as 270%. The cell assembled with PVDF-HFP GPE and LiMn2O4 (LMO) cathode, demonstrated high cyclic stability and rate performances. The battery exhibited an outstanding discharge capacity of 128 mAh/g at 0.1C. This study illustrated that PVDF-HFP GPE has enough potential to be used in real LIB applications thanks to its high performance and low-liquid leakage.
