The objective of this study is to investigate the adhesion performance including tack and peel strength of an acrylate, pressure sensitive adhesive (PSA) filled with zinc oxide (ZnO) particles (0-40 phr). Antibacterial characteristics against a Gram-negative bacterium, E. coli and a Gram-positive one, S. aureus were studied. Incorporating ZnO particles in PSA formulations decreased both tack and peel strength properties. For both microorganisms, decrement in cell viability was observed and the effect was more pronounced against S. aureus due to difference in the call wall structure between the two species.
