Polyalphaolefin (PAO) based lubricants posessing excellent characteristics have been used widely in automotive and high-performance engine oils applications. Although diverse initiating systems have been introduced, BF3- and AlCl3- donor systems are still the dominant initiating systems in commercial process. As these lewis acids are hazardous and corrosive in nature, many researches have been conducted to find alternatives or decrease their dosage in PAO synthesis. Accordingly, we used Deep Eutectic Solvent (DES) along with neat aluminium chloride (AlCl3) in oligomerization of 1- decene to reach this goal. To evaluate the effect of DES, GPC, 1H NMR and13C NMR analyses were conducted.
