Synthesis of Waterborne Epoxy Based on E6 and Diethanolamine

Waterborne Epoxy resins are new kinds of resins that are more environmentally friendly and can be used for different coating applications. E6 epoxy resin is prepolymerized with DEA and naturalized to make an emulsifier and make Epoxy dispersed in water media. The best molar ratio of epoxy to amine is 3 which is then neutralized completely with HOAc. Water is used to dilute the system and reduce viscosity. TH7301 is used as a curing agent. The high amount of epoxy groups makes the system unstable (Lack of emulsifier) whereas the low amount makes the system uncurable.
