A cavity-based acoustic sensor in square array solid-fluid phononic crystal is presented for the detection of composition of propanol and water mixtures. The matrix and inclusions are regarded to be steel and air and the cavity with double detection units has been tailored which provides the detection mechanism based on resonance frequency shift. The finite element method has been implemented to calculate the displacement resonant frequency induced for each concentration of propanol in water. The sensor operates in the transmission window of ~1.51kHz-2.18kHz within the phononic band gap frequency range and it can find potential applications in petrochemical industry
