A probabilistic approach to the genetic drift problem

Genetic drift, also known as allelic drift or the Wright e ect, is the change in the frequency of an existing gene variant (allele) in a population due to random chance. In this article, we obtain some approximation for the probability of extinction of an allele starting at a given frequency.
