The role of curing temperature on the protective performance of the silane coating was investigated by electrochemical impedance spectroscopy and surface analysis. In the presence of 2-mercaptobenzoxazole (MBO), electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) data showed an improvement in the corrosion protection. Moreover, the magnitude of impedance at low frequencies as well as phase angle at high frequencies could show the significant effect of curing temperature on the protective performance. As confirmed by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), the silane coating cured at more elevated temperature may possess denser network, leading to superior corrosion protection.
