This work studies the curing aspect of an automotive clearcoat modified with a hyperbranched poly ester-amide (HBP) and a polyhedral oligomeric silsesquioxane (POSS) nano building blocks using various thermo-chemorheological techniques. It was found that nano modifiers, thank to their unique structure, reduce the overall viscosity and reactivity of the system. Reduced viscosity and reactivity had opposite effects on curing of the system. Results of various techniques revealed that the influence of reduced reactivity outperformed that of the reduced viscosity, leading to less efficient curing and reduced cross-linking density in presence of nano building-blocks.
