Application of paint coatings in marine atmosphere is rather difficult due to poor adhesion of coatings and presence of pinholes and coating defects. This study describes the corrosion protective performance of anodized aluminum alloys (2024-T3) coated with conductive coating. The Polyaniline-ZnO nanocomposite were prepared by the chemical oxidative method of aniline. The composition and morphology of the polymer and the nanocomposite were characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), X-ray diffraction (XRD) and Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscopy (FE-SEM). Corrosion behavior of coatings in 3.5% NaCl solution were evaluated by use of electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS). EIS studies reveal that the coating resistance is increased due to use of PANI-ZnO nanocomposite.
