Total radiance factor (βт) of the fluorescence materials consist of two components: true reflection (βѕ) and fluorescent reflection (βL). The true reflection is independent of light source and can be correlated to the amount of dye according to the Kubelka- Munk theory. The Fluorescent reflection is a function of the amount of light absorbed by dye. To characterize a fluorescence behavior, these both components should be separated from each other. The different methods such as filter usage and computational method to eliminate or weaken the fluorescence part are introduced. The object of present work is presenting a method to analyze the fluorescence behavior by separating the true reflection from the fluorescence emission. The total radiance factor of fluorescent dyes was compared with the reflectance of substrate in all wavelengths and the exciting, crossover and emission region was determined as well. A normal instrument with polychromatic illumination like a traditional spectrophotometer can be used for separating the true reflection from fluorescence emission.
