    In this study, the modified metal oxide nanocomposite (ZnO-CuO) was synthesized and characterized. Direct red 80 was used as model compound. Dye removal from aqueous solution was done in a batch system using the prepared adsorbent. The effect of adsorbent mass and initial dye concentration were investigated. Isotherm and kinetic of dye adsorption were found to conform Langmuir and pseudo-second order model, respectively. The maximum adsorption capacity was 278 mg/g.
