Cotton fiber was firstly treated with two different carboxylic acid, 1,2,3,4-Butanetetracarboxylic acid (BTCA) and citric acid (CA) as well as two diverse concentration of colloidal nano silver and then dyed with basic dye. To compare the properties of pre-treated fibers with conventional method, we prepare other samples treated by two step method: dyeing and finishing (after treatment). Pre-treatment fibers with carboxylic acids shows excellent dyeability and as well as better washfastness. Antimicrobial activity of treated fabrics investigated by AATCC 147 standards. Polycarboxylic treated fabrics showed better antibacterial properties than reference. FE-SEM images and EDS spectrum confirms presence of nano silver in the surface of the fabric. BTCA pre-treated fabric shows very good wash fastness and nano silver is seen on EDS spectra after 5 washing cycle.
