    Cerium-substituted yttrium iron garnet with a composition of Y2.9Ce0.1Fe5O12 nanoparticles were first fabricated by sol-gel method and subsequent heating treatment.Phase formation of garnet and effect of annealing temperature on the crystalline structure were investigated by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and IR spectroscopy.This results show that single-phase powders can be obtained at the temperature of above 650°C which is comparable to that of an undoped sample Y3Fe5O12(800°C)[1].
