A bi-objective model for emergency service facility location in earthquake-prone areas

In this paper, a bi-objective model with respect to the location of emergency facilities in earthquake prone areas, taking risks of earthquake into account is presented. A mathematical formulation with two objective functions is given. The first objective function is a maximum coverage criterion. The second objective function expresses risk by possible earthquake events; a statistical model for earthquake occurrence is presented for quantifying this risk. For the solution of the biobjective optimization problem we propose a heuristic approach based on NSGA II algorithm and compare it with the results obtained from the CPLEX
