Abstract---In this study, the performance of 2D CFD-PBM model has been evaluated in a conical fluidized bed using a two-fluid model (TFM) and direct quadrature method of moments (DQMOM). To evaluate the impact of different drag models including Gidaspow, Syamlal-OʹBrein and Wen-Yu, parametric study has been executed. Comparison of the simulation results with the experimental data achieved by optical fiber probe indicates that the Gidaspow drag model provides more accurate predictions. By using appropriate drag model in the base case model, segregation behavior of particle mixture has been studied. The solid volume fraction along the bed height during the simulation time for large, medium and small sized particles shows that complete segregation can be predicted by CFD-PBM model and the particles with certain sizes will be accumulated in the specific levels of bed when complete segregation is obtained.
