In the present paper, synthesis and structural characterization of a novel hydrogel nanocomposite based on carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC) was prepared using grafting of acrylic acid (AA) and 2-acrylamido-2-methylpropane sulfonic acid (AMPS) onto CMC by using ammonium persulfate (APS) as a free radical initiator and methylene bisacrylamide (MBA) as a crosslinker in the presence of CdS quantum nanoparticles. The structure of hydrogel nanocomposite was characterized by FTIR, SEM, EDS, and TEM techniques. A proposed mechanism for synthesis of hydrogel nanocomposite was also given.
