Abstract: In this paper, for the first time, based on the
dynamic behavior of the self-assembled InAs/GaAs
quantum dot (QD) infrared photodetectors (QDIPs), we
extract a set of rate equations for the operation of the
device. By using the presented model, effects of carrier
dynamics on QDIPs are investigated. The effect of
relaxation times in the self assembled QD, like excited
state and wetting layer to ground state on frequency
response of QDIP is studied.
