TEACHER VIEWS ABOUT GRAMMAR ACTIVITIES ON 6-8^TH GRADES
Abstract :
Like all languages, Turkish language has peculiar properties and grammar rules. It is important to know these rules and transfer them. Turkish language workbooks are the most important tools in the schools where these rules are thought. As it has known new Turkish language syllabus based on constructivist approach and also grammar activities prepared in this way. The aim of this article is to evaluate the grammar activities of Turkish workbooks based on the views of Turkish language teachers. Qualitative research technique was employed in this article. The research was performed with 20 Turkish language teachers (10 female and 10 male teachers) working in different primary schools in Elazığ in 2010-2011 academic year in the fall semester. Interview technique was used in the research and the participants were asked fourteen-open ended questions which are prepared before based on experts’ opinion. Participants answers to questions written in the form of short notes during the interview were recorded by the researcher. The responses recorded during the interview were analyzed in a detailed way and evaluated. As a result of evaluation, it is determined that the constructivist approach isn’t known exactly and grammar activities weren’t sufficient.
