VILLAGE INSTITUTIONS FROM THE VIEWPOINT OF PHILOSOPHY OF EDUCATION
Abstract :
In this study Village Institutes curriculums and the institutional administration are discussed in the context of educational philophies. Document research design is utilized in the research, documents on the Willage Instutitions are used and data are analized through interpretative thematic analysis technique. Institutions have shown „perennialist‟, „essentialist‟ characteristics with the role of spreading and defending the founding ideology and culture. They reveal the characteristics of realism, pragmatism and constructivism with the function of constructing the new society. With the educational view of „production at work‟, they reflect some of the characteristics of polytechnic education. In institutions, both work-oriented studies and classic administration view show relative dominance. Institutions display behaviorist-environmentalist approaches in terms of participative administration and humanitarian purposes. Therefore a tendency towards an eclectic perception in which progressive, essentialist and constructivist philosophies are dominant can be claimed to exist. In the context of instutional management, classical and neo-classical management reflections are observed.
