POVEST’ VREMENNYKH LET’ (TALE OF BYGONE YEARS): İTS İMPORTANCE AND PLACE İN HİSTORY
Abstract :
Povest’ Vremennykh Let’ (PVL) one of the most important text regarding medieval Russians, Byzantium and various Turkic people lived in East European steppes. PVL inform us developments that had occured from middle of the 10th to beginning of the 12th centuries. Three redactions of PVL exist in different chronicles and they composed beginning parts of them. Redactions (Nestor, Slyvester and 1118 version) constitute from intricate contexts and all of them excerpts form each other. Many of historians and scholars tried to clarify lots of problems of that confusing texts and some of them succeeded to elucidating. İndubitably PVL isn’t precise text; it has many delusions and mistakes. As a matter of fact, aim of this work is to analyse and scrutinise PVL ones again and to submit somewhat contribution like previous historians and scholars.
