ANSWERS GIVEN BY IBN YAHYA TO ABU RAYYA S CLAIMS ABOUT SOME BASIC HADITH ISSUES
Abstract :
Many hadith matters has been discusssed among scholars such as nature of sunnah, writing of hadith, narrating hadith with meanning, forgery of hadith, companions and hadith transmission. As a modern study on mentioned hadith issues Mahmoud Abu Rayya’s “al-Adwa Ala al-Sunna al-Muhammadiyya (Lights on Muhammadan Sunnah) that is published in 1958, caused various reactions among scholars and some of them wrote books for refutation his views. Abd al-Rahman ibn Yahya’s “al-Anwar al-Kashifa” is one of such writings. This paper aims to scrutinize both of Abu Rayya and İbn Yahya’s remarks as claims and replies in a comparative context.
