Abstract :

Basic thought of Ahmet Midhat’s this novel is the matter of education of young girls. In this novel philosophy of utility of good quality diploma works a day absolutely is handled. All of the events happen in France. Depress family who are very rich before become poor because of giving all of their money to their daughter Matmazel Julie Depres for her education. They become so poor that they stay even without food and water for days. This family that was rich before used to go to theatre and restaurants and enjoy in qualified places before. But they got poor because of spending all of their money for education of their daughter. Matmazel Julie Depres has looked for a job since getting diploma everyday but she could not. All of the doors she knocked have been closed. But at last she starts to a job of selling flower that is very famous in Paris. There are a lot of girls in Paris who sells flower but Julie is different from all these girls. She puts in bouquets she sell a poem by writing to a piece of paper that she learned or memorized at school. Thereby she not only save money, but also become famous. Shortly, gist of the text is whatever the person labor, it is always obvious the difference of educational person. Accordingly in spite of being useless of Julie’s diploma before, afterwards functions because of Julie’s education and experience and so gets rich. And in this article, all these themes will be evaluated in the context of literature and philosophy.
