Abstract :
Alî Emiri Efendi is a person who lived in last period of Ottoman Empire (1857-1924) and lived through three important period as Tanzimat, Constitutionalism and Republic. Alî Emiri Efendi who also testified establishment and independence struggle of Republic of Turkey, is an exceptional person as a poet, writer, literature historian, librarian and journalist. 30 years of whole life of Alî Emiri Efendi that is 67 years, passed by officialdom in several provinces of Ottoman. He was not indifferent to national matters and undertook the mission of struggle by writing. As a poet and writer, Alî Emiri Efendi raised awareness of people and struggled for hindering the diffuse of Ottoman by touching on the themes like native country, nation, army, justification, justice in his poems and prose. In order to unearth valuable works about our history and literature, dedicate them to researchers, be helpful to native country and nation and also give answer to critics directed to him in some journals, he published a lot of works notably Osmanlı Tarih and Edebiyat Mecmuası.His writings about varied subjects published in Diyarbakır Vilâyet Gazetesi and Osmanlı Tarih and Edebiyat Mecmuası and in journals called Sevda-yı Amid, Tanzim ve Tarik and also his lots of works evince that Alî Emiri Efendi is a good publisher as much as poet and writer. Besides Alî Emiri Efendi who has written poems about telegraph, plane, dove, swallow and book broke new ground in our classical poetry by writing an ode about “journal”. In this study, Alî Emiri Efendi has been approached as a publisher apart from his qualification as poet, writer and literature historian and it has been tried to Latinize and evaluate “Gazete kasîdesi” that he has written for journals.
