Learner-Centered New Educational Paradigms and Their Reflections on The Period of Learning and Teaching
Abstract :
The aim of this research is to determine how learner-centered new educational paradigms are perceived by Secondary School teachers and also in what level these changes are reflected in the period of learning and teaching based on the thoughts of teachers. This research was done with a number of 255 teachers from different kinds of fields and the data was obtained via surveys which were consisted of likert type close ended items. Findings showed that teachers have accepted the learner-centered new educational paradigms as an idea, but it is also obvious that they could not perform it completely on learning and teaching period. Teachers , especially continue on teaching with the method of expression. Besides, teachers say that they are sufficient in intellectual development, but also they say that they are insufficient in affective development and material display and finding suitable methods for the new paradigms and lastly for measurement and evaluation. At the end of the research, especially, during the recent years, it is seen that; traditional educational methods are still preferred by teachers and they have not adopted the new ones totally at our Secondary Schools.
